Over time, the riverbasin unions have increasingly taken responsibility for the restoration of waterways. But upkeep of the riverbanks and bed is the duty of the owners of both banks (in the case of private waterways) or of the State (in the case of public-owned waterways). The Layon Aubance Louets Water Management and Development Plan (SAGE) is publishing a "residents' guide" giving practical advice and recalling the regulations for residents (owners and/or operators) who would like to undertake work at the water's edge.

This guide is made up of several thematic sections organised as follows:

  • objectives
  • technical advice
  • inadvisable work
  • advisable work
