Suèvres de A à Z

Published on 29 May 2017 - Updated 19 July 2017

This monograph on the village of Suèvres takes an alphabetical look at its subject’s life and history.

It covers the “great” history of the former town of Sodobrium, which dates back to the Gallo-Roman era, including its three churches, seven castles, eighteen watermills, three windmills, former fortifications, wars, notable inhabitants and successive mayors. It also takes a look at ways of life: hunting, fishing, farming, festivals, anecdotes, houses, geography, landscapes, rivers, and the rhythmical sound of beaters at work in the town’s many washhouses.
