The Unesco logo of an inscribed property is aimed at promoting a listing and furthering awareness of it (among visitors and locals alike) in keeping with the educational, scientific, cultural and artistic values of Unesco. It must be used for the purposes of enhancing and conveying the values of the inscribed property and promoting the World Heritage Convention.

Principles

The State is responsible on Unesco's behalf for the proper use of emblems and logos associated with World Heritage. In France, the French National Commission for Unesco (CNFU) manages their use. Mission Val de Loire acts as an intermediary for stakeholders of the Inscribed Property. In this respect, in agreement with the CNFU and Unesco, it authorises their use according to the terms set out in the procedure below. This has been designed to present the new terms governing use of the World Heritage emblem and logos applied to the Loire Valley depending on the stakeholders concerned.

Who is concerned

The emblem and logos may be used:

  • on an ongoing basis by local authorities, heritage sites and public venues.
  • on a temporary basis by educational, cultural, artistic and scientific project managers as well as tourism operators.

This guide does not cover rules on commercial usage, including publications. An application for such use must be submitted to the Director-General of Unesco via the CNFU.

Procedure

Obtaining the Unesco emblem and logos
