This year, the Maison de Loire in Anjou welcomed the Saint Lawrence as partner river for the Great Rivers of the World Biennial. To conclude, a convention was signed with the Friends of the Saint Lawrence Valley Association, which has organised a Maison du Saint Lawrence project. In return, Yves Joulain, president of the Maison de Loire was invited to take part in the Quebec National Urban Planners Congress. He was accompanied by Myriam Laidet, Heritage and territorial action Officer at Mission Val de Loire, preferred partner of the Maison de Loire.

The Maison de Loire in Anjou gave evidence of its activity in the fields of education, culture and tourism and of its expert role with authorities regarding environmental and cultural management of the Loire.

Mission Val de Loire presented the meaning and key issues of the Loire Valley's UNESCO listing as well as the Outstanding Universal Value (UOV) as guarantor of a perennial territorial strategy and project quality.

Both presentations were well received by the 200 participants - professionals, academics and local, provincial and national officials. In addition to the hope that a section of the Saint Lawrence river will eventually be UNESCO listed, integration in terms of heritage and landscape as well as getting civil society involved in the drafting of projects appeared to reflect a strong desire among the audience. A cooperation programme between the two rivers is emerging - watch this space!
